Jonathan Perkins Jon is Principal in Charge of Investigations for Close Range International, Inc. He oversees all investigations for Close Range in additional to conducting a Sober/Life Coach program for people struggling with chemical and personal addictions. Jon’s 35 years in public service as a police officer and 11 years in the private sector permits Jon to evaluate your personal, security and investigative needs with realistic and pragmatic insight. Jon’s skill at managing resources or the needs of an investigation, and his dedication to each of his clients has earned him the respect of his peers and a loyal client base. In 2009, Jon retired with the rank of Lieutenant after 35 years of public service as a Police Officer. During his career in the public sector Jon worked as a Detective, Detective Sergeant, and a Detective Bureau Commander. Jon investigated, supervised and managed a variety of major investigations varying from financial crime, burglaries, auto theft rings, serial robberies, serial murders and managed a Major Crimes Joint Federal Task Force. He conducted homicide investigations that required him to travel to 17 other states and numerous countries including the United Kingdom, Italy and the Netherlands; in pursuit of suspects. As a narcotics detective Jon initiated covert/undercover operations designed to arrest drug dealers. Jon developed investigative expertise that is court recognized throughout Los Angeles County. Some of his casework work included the Nightstalker Murder case, The Metrolink train crash and the Domino’s Pizza Murder Case(s). Jon was a Security Consultant for a large entertainment client in Beverly Hills that dealt with music and film talent clients worldwide. He has supervised stalking cases for numerous high profile clients, as well as consulted with them on office and home security. When not working on security for real life situations, Jon acts as a consultant/technical advisor for television productions. Some of the series that he has worked with are Dragnet (Television Series) and Monk. Basil “Steve” Stephens Steve is Principal in Charge of Executive Protection and Administration for Close Range International, Inc. He has extensive investigative and executive protection experience. Steve has conducted hundreds of investigations with positive results. He has taken numerous DOJ and POST training classes in the police academy and has worked with and for the LAPD, FBI, Secret Service, Military Police and numerous security professionals. Steve has worked and coordinated security for many high profile events and is a mainstay in Hollywood circles where his professionalism, knowledge and work ethic has never been challenged. Executive Protection is his expertise. Steve worked exclusively for the entertainer, Madonna, for over 10 years and captured her high profile stalker Robert Hoskins in 1995. Stephens’ testimony helped convict Hoskins of stalking and ensured his long prison sentence. Hoskins, as of 2009, remains in the California State Prison System as an extreme danger to the public. ( We only mention this case because of the worldwide media coverage-Close Range International normally will not disclose client’s identity) Stephens has also provided personal security /executive protection for many other high profile celebrities and “Rock and Roll Royalty” in town and on the road. Steve Stephens most recently was Security Director at Warner Bros Records in Burbank (2005-2009), providing armed security for executives and artists and conducting stalking investigations. Prior to that position he was Security Director at Maverick Records (1995-2004), Madonna’s label, where he conducted many investigations and managed numerous threats working closely with the LA County District Attorney’s “STAT” Team ( Stalking and Threat Assessment Team-founded by DDA Rhonda Saunders) and the LAPD’s Threat Management Unit. During the period he worked for the record company’s, he still managed Close Range International. He now devotes 100% of his time to Close Range International and serving your needs. Michael Hines Michael Hines is an associate of Close Range International, bringing 32 years of law enforcement experience to the security and investigative activities. He attained the rank of Lieutenant in the Beverly Hills Police Department and has worked in all fields of traditional and non-traditional law enforcement, including Forensics, Field Operations (patrol), recruit training, Defensive Tactics instructor, Narcotics Investigations, Crime Suppression/ felony surveillance team, Fugitive/Warrant Service Unit, Special Tactics Team (SWAT), motorcycle traffic enforcement, Community Relations, Jail Manager, Internal Affairs investigations, Traffic planning, film & special event permits, Watch Commander and Traffic Commander. Mike has enjoyed a variety of leadership roles and special projects which allowed him to further develop his investigative and facilitation skills, while collaborating with several community based organizations, religious institutions, the Chamber of Commerce, City staff and allied agencies. He co-authored a traffic safety bill, lobbied State legislators and gave supportive testimony to a Senate sub-committee. Mike drafted and directed several sobriety education grants, which funded the DUI enforcement efforts of BHPD for several years. These experiences compliment his value as an investigator, problem solver and business security professional. Mike has received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Micaela Garland Micaela Garland has 33 years of experience in law enforcement and commercial security. She was a member of the Beverly Hills Police Department for 28 years, rising to the rank of lieutenant in command of the Detective Division. Micaela was assigned to successively responsible positions in Field Operations, Traffic enforcement and Investigations, handling commercial crime, fraud, juvenile victims, stalking incidents, sexual assaults and homicide cases. Micaela was recognized for her investigative work and management of complex felony cases such as the Anand Jon matter, involving the sexual assault of multiple minors in California, Texas and New York. Micaela is also a facilitator for the State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), instructing a police leadership program for sergeants and lieutenants. She remains affiliated with BHPD as a Reserve Police Officer, assisting with the Crisis Negotiation Team and Field Operations. Micaela holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. |
